India High Range Mountain Landscape Project- UNDP
The India High Range Mountain Landscape Project is being carried out through the cooperation of many components in Anchunadu and the surrounding regions with regard to the creation of sustainable livelihoods and the preservation of wildlife. Funds from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) were used to carry out the project. This project aimed to preserve the biodiversity of the high-range mountains in the southern part of Western Ghats.
The development of high range mountains means an action plan that takes into account all of the Western Ghats'ecological features, socio-economic features, and development patterns. The operations were implemented taking into account the characteristics of this area, including its rich biodiversity, relationships between people and the natural world, development pressures, resource depletion, and high risk of climate change.
The activities of this GEF-UNDP Joint Sustainable Livelihoods Project for the Anchunadu and adjacent land system are being implemented in Vattavada, Kanthallur, Marayur, Chinnakanal, Munnar, Devikulam, Idamalakkudi, Mankulam and Adimali grama panchayats of Idukki district, Kuttampuzha in Ernakulam district and Athirapilli grama panchayath in Thrissur district as Haritha Keralam Mission Special Purpose Vehicle.
