The Harithakerala mission a sub mission under NKP focuses on the primary sector with eco friendly development initiatives in agricultutre and allied activities, water conservation, waste management, environmental protection, and climate resilient disaster management practices thereby aimed at creating a sustainable development
The agricultural development initiatives mainly emphasises on sanitation &waste management, soil &water conservation and organic farming.
The development initiatives are planned by mobilizing the masses on a large scale through the participatory campaigns and through coordination of the Local Self-Government Institutions, the concerned departments and agencies through the integration of Central and State Government schemes
The popular initiatives of HKM are Greening initiatives like pachathuruthu, Environmental restoration activities, Rejuvenation of streams &rivers Reclamation of watersheds, Ini Njan oozhukate Campaign, Water budget, Water quality testing labs, Green campus, Green legal literacy, Scientific Waste management activities, Environmental friendly agriculture development. The Mission mobilizes technical assistance, voluntary service and financial assistancefrom organizations, institutions and individuals from all cross section of the society .Haritha Keralam Mission initiates a leap towards Carbon Neutral Kerala and the common goal of the mission is an eco-friendly Kerala.
